Short answer, and it is not the one this page used to give: you cannot buy Moonhub.ai anymore. Moonhub wound down in June 2025. Its pricing page now returns a 404.
Moonhub.ai was an AI-powered recruiting platform, founded in 2022 by former Meta engineer Nancy Xu. Its "AI Recruiter" was pitched as a software agent that sourced, vetted and engaged candidates from across the open web. On 2 June 2025 it was reported that the company was shutting down and that part of its team was moving to Salesforce.
Moonhub never published a dollar figure while it was trading, which is why this page exists in the first place. So this is now a different article: what Moonhub actually charged, what happened to it, and what to use instead.
We'll answer these questions for you:
- What happened to Moonhub.ai?
- Which Moonhub.ai plans were there?
- What does Moonhub.ai cost?
- Can I still buy Moonhub.ai?
- What are the alternatives to Moonhub.ai?
HeroHunt.ai
The half of Moonhub that no longer exists is the half most people on this page were buying: describe a role in plain language, get a shortlist pulled off the open web, then have the tool engage those candidates over time. HeroHunt.ai does that specific job. It searches across roughly a billion public profiles, screens them with language models against your written requirements rather than keyword filters, and runs the personalized outreach that follows. Two honest limits before you treat it as a like-for-like swap. It is a sourcing and outreach layer, not a system of record, so it does not replace an ATS for pipeline stages, reporting or compliance, and you keep whatever ATS you already run. And it is software, not a search firm: if what you actually wanted from Moonhub was the Expert tier, where humans ran the search, screened candidates and negotiated the offer, no tool in this category replaces that. An agency does.
What happened to Moonhub.ai?
On 2 June 2025, TechCrunch reported that Salesforce had taken on part of Moonhub's team. Salesforce pushed back on the word "acquisition": a spokesperson clarified that this was not one. Moonhub was shutting down, and some of its people (not all) were joining Salesforce, where retained staff were pointed at Agentforce.
Moonhub had raised roughly $14.4 million from Khosla Ventures, AIX Ventures, Day One Ventures, GV and Salesforce itself, and reporting at the time put it at hundreds of customers, including Fortune 500 companies. Founder Nancy Xu framed the move as accelerating the mission in its next chapter. In practice the company wound down.
What survives is a marketing site. The domain still resolves, still shows the old "AI Recruiting Partner" homepage with a "Schedule a Call" button, and carries a banner reading "Moonhub Team Joins Salesforce." The product pricing page has been taken down.
Which Moonhub.ai plans were there?
Moonhub's own pricing page, archived in December 2023 and last captured in February 2024, listed three tiers. That archive is now the most reliable record of the structure, because the live page is gone.
Starter
- The entry tier, described as "limited AI only"
- Labelled "Free" in the December 2023 capture and relabelled "Lite" by February 2024
- Limited AI chat responses and limited candidate searches
- No outreach, no projects, no integrations
Pro (Contact Sales)
- 1,000+ AI chat responses per month, uncapped candidate searches
- 500+ contact credits per month, unlimited emails and sequences, AI email writer
- Unlimited projects, a candidate tracking system, an AI project manager
- ATS and CRM integrations
Expert (Contact Sales)
- Everything in Pro, plus actual humans: expert recruiting strategy and advisory
- An expert active candidate database and candidate screening calls
- Expert multi-channel outreach, candidate introduction and follow-up calls
- Expert project management and offer negotiation
- Custom datasets
The structure tells you something the price never did. Expert was not really software. It was a recruiting service with software attached, which is exactly why it was sold by conversation instead of by price tag.
What does Moonhub.ai cost?
Nothing, because you cannot buy it. When it was trading, Moonhub never published a single dollar figure. The entry tier was free or limited, and both paid tiers read "Contact Sales" for the entire archived life of the pricing page.
You will still find blogs and tool directories quoting confident numbers for Moonhub: a flat monthly subscription, a 15% to 25% placement fee, a $5,000 per month per search retainer. None of those trace back to Moonhub. We are not going to repeat them, and that includes the figures this article itself used to carry. Moonhub negotiated per account, and per-account pricing means someone else's number was never going to be your number.
If you landed here building a budget, the useful takeaway is the shape rather than the figure. Pro was seat-and-credit software priced by sales call. Expert was priced like a recruiting agency, because it was one. Any vendor with that shape will quote you against your headcount, your hiring volume and your geography, so the only real way to price it is to make them bid against a named alternative.
Can I still buy Moonhub.ai?
No, and this is worth being careful about.
The site is still live, the login still exists, and the calls to action still invite you to schedule a call. That is a frozen marketing site, not evidence of a company selling software. The pricing page 404s, and the wind-down was announced in June 2025.
Do not sign a contract or hand over hiring data on the strength of a website that outlived the business behind it. If you are an existing Moonhub customer, export your candidate data and outreach history now if you have not already done it.
What alternatives do I have?
The right alternative depends on which half of Moonhub you were buying: the AI that found the people, or the humans who ran the search. Most "Moonhub alternatives" lists ignore that split, which is why they send agency buyers to software.
- AI sourcing tools (if you wanted the AI Recruiter). Moonhub's pitch was describing a role in plain language and getting a shortlist off the open web. Tools like HeroHunt.ai do that job: searching across public profiles and engaging candidates over time.
- An AI-assisted ATS (if what you wanted was Pro). Manatal is the closest match to the Pro feature list at a price you can read without a sales call: from $15/user/month billed annually, with AI that scores candidates against job requirements, enrichment from public profiles, and a 14-day trial with no card. It replaces the system of record, not the headhunting.
- A recruiting agency or an embedded recruiter (if what you wanted was Expert). Expert was a recruiting service, so the honest replacement is a recruiting service, priced the way those are priced: a percentage of first-year salary, negotiated per search. Comparing that to a software subscription is a category error.
- Other AI recruiting platforms. HireVue, Paradox and Sapia.ai are all still trading and cover screening, conversational scheduling and structured interviews. Be aware that they solve assessment and candidate experience, not open-web sourcing, so they are not like-for-like with Moonhub's core claim.
- A mainstream ATS. Greenhouse, Lever or Workday Recruiting if you need process depth, reporting and compliance more than you need AI sourcing.
- In-house recruiting. With steady hiring volume, an internal recruiter is often cheaper than any of the above, and it was always the real competitor to Moonhub's Expert tier.
Manatal
On option 2 specifically, the ATS half of the decision: Moonhub never put a number on Pro, and now there is no number to put. Manatal publishes what Moonhub would not, at $15/user/month billed annually, $19 month to month, with a 14-day trial that does not ask for a card. Read the cap before you commit. That $15 tier stops at 15 active jobs and 10,000 candidates, so anyone running more than 15 reqs is really pricing the $35 tier ($39 monthly), and API plus SSO only appear at $55. Be equally clear about what it is not. Manatal scores candidates against your job requirements and enriches profiles from public sources, but it does not autonomously hunt passive candidates across the open web the way Moonhub's AI Recruiter was sold, and it hands you no human recruiters. If that open-web sourcing was the entire reason you were looking at Moonhub, an ATS is the wrong replacement and option 1 is your row.
There is a lesson in this one worth more than any price estimate. Moonhub raised $14.4 million, carried Fortune 500 logos, and still wound down inside three years, and the buyers who found out were the ones holding contracts with a vendor that had never told them what it charged. When you compare AI recruiting tools, weight published pricing and a trial you can run yourself. A vendor that will not show you a number is asking you to trust both its price and its survival.
